holsteinson
I always need these vector maps for all my project's drainage design solutions can someone help me generate it in VW? Here is an example generated of Mt St Helen contours in Surfer 9 http://www.ssg-surfer.com/ssg/detailed_description/surfer7.jpg [img:left]http://www.ssg-surfer.com/ssg/detailed_description/surfer7.jpg[/img] Quote Link to comment
monkey
you can do a flow analysis map like this through the DTM feature, i havent done one in ages, but im pretty sure its the same. i think you can generate it through the 'graphic properties' window Quote Link to comment
holsteinson
Thanks monkey but is there any workflow available by anyone how to generate vector maps? Quote Link to comment
bcd
The VW DTM will produce flow arrows indicating the flow direction across a site model but afaik provides no indication of magnitude. Create DTM:Site Model Settings:2D display options:Show Flow Arrows. Quote Link to comment
islandmon
DTM>2D Flow Arrows utilize the equal distance between the 2D contours... hence there's no need for magnitude just the average direction of the flow. Therefore, to show magnitude the arrow vectors would need to be in 3D space. Then, when viewed from above the shorter the arrow the steeper the slope... which is exactly what the contours display ... narrower distance between contours = steeper slope. 3D arrows can be generated from 3D sections via annotations of the slope. IMHO...in normal practice a fully 3D vectorized contour map is not required. Quote Link to comment
