genie
Is there any way to transition say a 6" wall to a 12" wall with the wall tool? Or a 'T' with different wall thicknesses? VW doesn't seem to like joining two walls at its end, as both walls would extend to infinity. Has anybody experienced this before? What's your way around it? Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The Pillar object is your friend. For two walls end to end you can make a pillar with an extremely narrow width (say 0.1mm) and the walls will both snap to it and give you the result I think you are looking for. For a three-way Tee it gets trickier, especially if the third leg comes off and covers the junction of the two straight sections. You probably need to make an L shaped pillar with sides the same length as the width of each wall. And remember to use the Wall Join tool in the L join mode and go from the pillar to the wall. This will give you hidden edges on the pillar. If you go from the wall to the pillar you will see the joint. Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
The pillar command is great for this type of thing, and for joining three walls together. I just did a search of all my movies and the only movie i have on pillars is one i made for my user group, an extended podcast that was included in the notes for December 2009. Anyone can now search all my resources at : http://www.archoncad.co.nz/search/ Quote Link to comment
