ChrisW
I want to make a worksheet that summarizes the general notes tool. What formula would I use to display the title text, number, body text, and sheet #/name that? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Check out the script(s) in this thread: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=108487#Post108487 It will give you everything you need about any PIO (plugin object) to use the data in a worksheet. ChrisW
Right, I've used that but it doesn't provide a formula to display the title text, number, body text, or sheet name. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
It looks like the title and body text are attached to a locus point that is inside a group that is inside the General Note PIO. Or maybe even in the profile group. I can't find a way to make the worksheet dig that deeply into the object tree to get the information into a database. You could make a fairly simple Vectorscript that would get the information and put it into a worksheet, but it would have to be re-run after you make changes to the notes. It would also not be a 2-way link to the record, so you couldn't make changes in the worksheet and have them show up in the PIO. I don't think you are going to ever get it to be a simple process to access this data through the database/worksheet. Quote Link to comment
ChrisW
A script that would bring the information into a worksheet would be very helpful. But as I am unfamiliar with VS and am coming up on a deadline, creating one myself is not very feasible. Would you be open to creating this script or know anyone that would? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
The script I am working on will take the output from one (currently selected in the drawing) General Note Object and create a date stamped worksheet for those notes. Would you like the sheet to be listed on every row, or just once at the top of the worksheet? Quote Link to comment
ChrisW
Every row please. Sheet #, Sheet name, General Notes Title, #, Note/description Thanks again! Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Please see the script posted in the VS Share forum. http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=142306Post142306 Quote Link to comment
