No Edit Function

I am unable to edit objects? Why can I not edit for example a simple square. No handles. I get a message this object has no edit behaviour? Thanks

Look at the mode bar, you probably have the 2D selection tool set to Disable Interactive Scaling Mode. Also, if you don't have a tool active that will edit it, you won't see any handles.

If you are double clicking on the rectangle when you get the message, that's correct, you can't double click on it to make the 2D Reshape tool.

The "U" key toggles the modes.
