Notepad-Saved View

JSiegel

Question

It may be a nice feature to be able to "save on the screen" a dimension that was measured using the measurement tool. So a simple shortcut that holds the measured dimension until released. Presently, we are forced to remember or write down on a separate piece of scratch paper that, for instance, the ridge of a given roof needs to be extended 3'-7.068"

Anyhow, just a thought. J

Expanding this thought......A tape measure/dimensioning tool with the option of saving measurements on screen as temporary dimensions, plus the added option of converting selected measurements to permanent dimensions!

How could this function? Well ie. Choose Dimensioning tool, for tape measure tool hold Option Key, for temporary dimensions hold Command Key, for Permanent Dimensions as is.........

I often draw a line rather than using the tape measure tool. I can then cut & paste it when needed - it serves to record not only the length but also the angle of the line.

Also - it allows me not to question the precision of the measurement - as the snap points at the end will be at maximum precision.

i too use lines, but a quick and easy aquire from the Tape Measure would save an awful lot of mouse miles and clicks to and from the OIP.

A new listing in a context/right click menu for example, or as i would think most CADies use multi button mice the ability to asign this command to the wheel or one of the top/back buttons only activated when using the tape(to avoid Zoom with the scroll wheel).

Yes i know this drags mouse makers and/or tablet producers into the fray but this is supposed to be the age of communication technology.

:)

Plug-In??
