homework
Since "upgrading" my MAC to Snow Leopard & installing VW2010 from VW12.5, I've had nothing but problems when attempting to render. First, the system crashed. After some sage advice from GRANT PD (thank you Grant) I discovered a corrupt piece of my drawing and replaced it. I was then able to FAST RENDER. BUT when trying to FINAL RENDER, it is SLOW SLOW SLOW. When I try to FORCE QUIT VW is "not responding". Anyone else working on MACOS6 with VW 2010? I'm even wondering if my VW program is faulty. CipesDesign
Question 1: are the problem renderings occurring in new files or in files created in version 12.5 now brought forward into the new version?? Question 2: What are your hardware specs? Quote Link to comment
homework
The renderings were all created in 2010. 27" imac 4GB ram OS 10.6.3 only a bitmap was developed in 12.5 When I tried to render without that bitmap, the same issues occurred. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Where is the origin in your drawing? What is the extent of your drawing? Quote Link to comment
homework
Mike, I don't know what you mean "origin" and "extent" Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
How big is the file? Can you post it here so that we can have a look? Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
A common cause of renderings being very slow is having objects a long way from the origin of the drawing (X = 0, Y = 0). Therefore if your model is a long way from the drawing origin or you have any objects in your drawing which are a long way from the origin this may be the cause of your problem. You can check for the origin location being offset by either turning the Rulers on in Vw Preferences or placing a 2D locus in the centre of your drawing and reading what its X and Y is on the OIP. You can check the extents of your drawing by clicking in an empty part of the drawing and then clicking on the Fit to Objects icon on the View Bar. You may need to check for this in individual Design Layers. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Open the online help, menu bar>Help>Vectorworks Help. Do a search on Set_Origin, this will explain what the origin is. Having your objects far from the Origin will cause problems in rendering. Peter's advice is very good, if you post the file here you will get a very fast solution. Quote Link to comment
homework
Thank you Ray, Mike and Peter. I reset the origin, deleted objects WAY out of the active layer, and it all went well. I've been working on Vectorworks since it was Minicad 4 and learned more today that ever before. Thank you fro sharing your knowledge and experience. Quote Link to comment
