Kevin McAllister
Ok, I'm sure there's a obvious solutions. I've never really gotten into the door and window tools in the past. I've been building an office interior and decided to give them a try. Is there a reason that, while windows default to clear in a basic render, the door does not when the leaf type is glass. The transom is solid as well. Next I have to discover how to make a two panel door, where the top is a window and the bottom is solid..... Kevin Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Hey Kevin, here's what you need to do (and no one really likes it very much). Select the door, go to settings, click on the View tab and in the Parts Pulldown make sure that BOTH "Exterior Panels" AND "Interior Panels" are set to use a class (eg: Style-Glazing 1), THEN go to the Class Setup and make sure the class uses "None" for fill, and one of the Glass Textures, and also that "Use at Creation" is checked. FWIW, I usually use the class Style-Glazing 1 for both Window and Door glazing... FWIW-2, this is one of the reasons I find it easier to create one door (or window) of each type and then duplicate them and just change sizes (having already done all the fiddling with textures, etc). Kevin McAllister
Thanks Peter. I appreciate the assistance. It turns out the transoms require the "sidelight" texture to be set as well..... :-S I still have yet to figure out how to make the bottom panel solid and the top panel glass in a single door.... While I love Vectorworks, its these interface challenges that really need to be cleaned up. Cheers, Kevin Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Yes, the sidelight textures....arg (that's pirate for "what the %^&^$?"). For really special doors you have lots of modeling tools at your disposal. I have often simply built my own, from scratch, then made them into symbols with wall insertion capabilities... And yes, for users (especially newer users) these sorts of unintuitive things can really muck up one's day... Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Ironically in my case the modelling from scratch is the easy part, since that's mostly what I do anyway. Thanks again, Kevin Quote Link to comment
