"Space" Command creates new Class

Every time I add or modify an existing "Space" it creates a new Class with that Space in it.

What am I doing wrong? I want them all to be on the default Class that I have set up for Spaces.

The class of the space object is set in the Space Tool preferences. Near the bottom of the dialog box there is a popdown that lets you set the Default Class that all space objects will be placed.

The preferences are at the right end of the Space Tool modes in the mode bar.
