Autentication Problems (not connecting to internet)

Echnaret

Question

I just installed Vectorworks 2010 Student Edition on my laptop (Windows XP SP 3), and after starting it up for the first time, it gives me the message, "Vectorworks requires activation over the internet before it can be used." I click the "Activate" button, and a few seconds later I get the message, "An attempt to activate over the Internet has failed because of communication problems. Do you want to try again?" I do, and get the same problem. I disabled my firewall hoping that would solve the problem, but it didn't. I also tried connecting using both wired and a friend's wireless internet. Any suggestions?

The problem ended up resolving itself after I ran a software update and updated the drivers for my graphics card.

For the software update, all the essential updates were already done. However, there were some Microsoft .NET Framework updates I did by following the instructions here:

http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/776/Vectorworks+and+Windows+XP

I also updated my graphics card, based on the instructions here:

Between those two things, everything seems to be working out fine. I'll post again if I have any more problems.
