luckygemini521
I'm using the 2009 version of vectorworks and somehow during a restart, the tool sets (menus on the left side of the screen -- basic, dim/set, etc.) have disappeared and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get them to reappear. I have gone through the Help menus and all I see is information on how to edit tool sets that are already visible but no information on how to get a certain tool menu to display. I'm extremely frustrated and would like to continue working!!! Thanks so much! Quote Link to comment

mike m oz
With nothing selected right click in an empty part of the drawing. On the contextual menu that comes up choose Palettes and put a checkmark against Tool Sets. OR Go to the Window menu and select Palettes and put a checkmark against Tool Sets. Quote Link to comment

JeffPPI
be sure to save your workspace too, then you can just load it up if that happens again. Quote Link to comment

Vectorworks, Inc Employee Adam Robinson Posted July 31, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 31, 2019 Hi @4younn23, This is a symptom of a corrupt workspace. Please let me know if you are on a Mac or Windows computer and which version of Vectorworks you are using so I can tell you how to resolve this. Quote Link to comment
Randy12
I have the same problem. I am on a mac with VW 2019 upgraded from 17 last week. My Tool sets worked at first but now are an empty window. I can go back to a prior work space and they are there. ?? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Adam Robinson Posted August 29, 2019 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 29, 2019 Hi @Randy12, This will be because one of your workspaces has become corrupt. You will need to reset your user folder by doing the following: Close Vectorworks > Finder > Go > hold Alt/Option and click Library > Application Support > Vectorworks > rename 2019 to 2019old > open Vectorworks. Randy12
Thanks, That got it back. I had to run migration manager again and all is good. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Julia79
I'm facing the same problem, I can't find the basic palette. I just installed Vectorworks on my new mac and I can't find the Basic Palette. Not even changing Workspace or doing right click on the empty space. Vectorworks Version: 2019 SP4 (Built 490894) (64-Bit) Computer: Mojave Version 10.14.6 Any ideas how to solve this? Quote Link to comment
Jeremy Best
Hi @Julia79, the full prescription delivered by @Adam Robinson above is also what I recommend. I've noticed what seems to be a trend of issues for users of Vectorworks 2019 who have opted to migrate Workspaces from a previous version of Vectorworks and I suspect this will be the case for you also. I'd be interested to hear if this works for you. 1 Quote Link to comment
michaela.dunworth@tafensw.
just installed Vectorworks 2019 on my new Mac today and cannot display a menu bar and tool sets in now a grey empty box. I've got it selected under the Palette menu but can't dock it and it is empty. help! Quote Link to comment
amoledo
I am having the same issue as listed above, but I'm on PC. Any idea on how to fix? Quote Link to comment
Justin Paul
I’m also having the same issue after following a tutorial, I was hesitant to begin with when he suggested to reset saved settings but I did anyway and I’ve lost the basic palette have tried all suggestions and at best end up with a grey box Quote Link to comment
Jeremy Best
@amoledo & @Justin Paul, try this lightweight version of the full 'Resetting Vectorworks Preferences' process: In Vectorworks go: Tools > Options > Vectorworks Preferences… In the User Folder tab, click on 'Reveal in Finder' (Mac) or 'Explore…' (Windows) Quit Vectorworks then… In the Finder / File Explorer window you just opened, add something like an 'x' or the word 'old' to the 'Settings' folder's name. Open Vectorworks. If this works, one of your Vectorworks preference files is corrupt. ❗️ Be sure to set up your Vectorworks preferences again to suit your needs. If it doesn't work, quit Vectorworks, change the name back, then try the above process with the 'Workspaces' folder instead. Quote Link to comment
