Assemblage
In isometric views in Final Qual Renderworks it now appears very jagged and blurry (see attached)...??! Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Is that picture from a sheet layer viewport? If it is, it looks like the sheet layer DPI setting is too low. If that picture is from a design layer.... that's puzzling. hth michaelk Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
No, it's in a design layer. If I copy bits of the model into a fresh empty file there is no problem..so something's up. I'll keep experimenting and try and get to the bottom of it Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
No joy. Attached is the file - render in Final Qual RW and you'll see what I mean Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
It is like it's gone through a Photoshop filter or something..is there such a thing in VW?? Quote Link to comment
GWS
I set the render to custom renderworks and the same result occured, only when I turned of ray tracing did the jagged edge disappear....very strange. Why would ray tracing cause such an effect? Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
Hence 'Fast Renderworks' still works I guess. OpenGL not good though.. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
On the VP-Tender Set Design Layer you have a Referenced Viewport 530.5 Km to the west and 187.5 Km to the south of your drawing origin. Delete that and your file will render without the jagged edge. Edited March 26, 2010 by mike m oz Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
A final qual RW of a window now looks like!: Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Any drawing element a long way from the origin will cause a distortion like this in the renders. Remove them and everything will render as it should. Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
Many thanks, I didn't know that. I'll rebuild the model on the origin Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
Still a problem (see attached). This is a fresh file, with elements copied across. Any thoughts very welcome Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Edit the glass texture and make the Refraction parameter zero. You might also need to reduce the Mirror factor as well Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
I didn't get any change by adjusting those settings..did you? Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Yes. You should also try setting: - The scale to an appropriate level like 1:100 - Vectorworks Preferences for 2D Conversion res. to High and 3D Conversion res. to High. - Document Preferences Resolutions for PDF Export and Printing to 300 dpi. Assemblage
Tried all of those, as well as deleting all lights and deleting the glass texture altogether. I also tried opening the file on other machines. Still renders as attached..it's a mystery to me. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
You almost certainly still have an object a long way from the origin in your file or one of the referenced files. Anything a long way from the origin will cause this effect - even loci or text. To find the offending objects(s): - Save View your drawing with a name like 'view all'. - Make all Classes visible. - Make all Design Layers visible. - With nothing selected use Fit to Objects to zoom to the drawing extents. - This should show you where the problem object(s) are. (Check in Top/Plan View for 2D and hybrid objects. Check in Top and Front Elevation View for 3D objects.) - Delete the problem objects. (Make sure first that they are not contained within a Symbol or Group as this may cause you to delete information that you need to keep. In those circumstances delete the unwanted portions of the symbols or groups.) - Invoke the Saved View to return your Class and Design Layer visibilities to what they were. If all of the drawing is a long way from the origin and page use a similar method so you can select everything and then move it to where the origin and page are located. This is a problem that crops up regularly where users have imported DWG files. Whenever there is anything located well away from the origin this will cause it to render in this way. Its because when a drawing renders it renders the full extent of objects in the drawing. In extreme circumstances the drawing will not render at all or will be very very slow. Danielj1
I have to say this is a mystery to me as well: on my MacbookPro with OSX10.5.8 I can't replicate this problem at all (I used the replacement file). Tried with OpenGL (with Detail set to Low), CustomRW (with Ray Tracing on and off), and other combos all to no avail; I'm not getting the jaggies. I'm just wondering if it is a video driver issue... mike m oz
Dan, make the Class Viewport-Tender Set visible. There is a referenced Viewport at location X= -530.656 Km and Y = -187.551 Km (-330 mi, -116 mi). This is what will be causing the jagged rendering. Assemblage's problem will persist until he removes that referenced viewport. (Note: The problem is where it is not what it is.) Edited April 1, 2010 by mike m oz Quote Link to comment
Danielj1
I see it now, Mike. Thank you. Dan J. Quote Link to comment
Assemblage
I copied the file, and then methodically deleted each class to see where the culprit was (including the VP). No joy. I then completely rebuilt the file, as well as the referenced file drawing in the VP, over the origin. It took a while, but the problem has gone - many thanks Mike. I was getting ground down...moral of the story: kick off drawings at the origin in the first place. Quote Link to comment
