Stuart1979
Hi, I'm just wanting some help please, does anyone know how to change the gray visibility background layer. I use this gray layer for the building plan layout and add a visible layer on top to show the M&E services etc. However, when I print the drawing it can be difficult to see the gray background layer. If possible I would like to 'darken' it?? But I can't find where this could be done. I use Vectorworks 12.5.3 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to comment
monkey
i dont think you can darken it, you could increase line thickness though, that might help with the printing. only other way is to photoshop it Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
You can't, but there are other solutions: 1 Make the background layer visible (as opposed to grey) then change the layer opacity to the amount that suites you're purpose. 2 Import the layer as a DLVP and change the opacity in the DLVP. (you can use 'Send to Back' to have it beneath you're drawing objects) Edited March 24, 2010 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment

RGyori
Hello Stuart, Click the Layers icon (third from left in the menu bar) to open the Organization Palette. Select your layer, click Edit and then in the Edit Design Layers dialog box adjust the opacity slider to suit. Bob Quote Link to comment
gScott
stuart, on VW 12.5.x there isn't layer opacity. we try to draw rigorously using class graphics, and then set the class settings of the walls etc, in the viewport to be skinny + grey, and big + bright for the services, using the normal colour palette so you can get the right shade... Pat Stanford
For printing purposes there is a box in the print dialog (under Vectorworks, at least on Mac) that lets you set the percentage Gray level you want on the printout. Quote Link to comment
