Per Ruben
Hello Is it possible to convert a PDF-drawing to a 3d-object? I would lika to see a perspective view where the building etc. is built on the drawing. Thank! Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted March 7, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 7, 2010 Hi Per Ruben, If the PDF has vector data, then you can select it and use the "Convert to Group" command. Then edit the group and delete the bitmap part and you will be left with the vector data. Exit the group and make sure the group is set to the "Layer Plane" (in the Obj Info palette). Then you'll see the vector data as 3D laying flat at it's parent layer's Z height. HTH Quote Link to comment
Per Ruben
HI again, and thank you for your answer. =) It made it possible but the problem is that much of the things i want printed on the "floor" is in the bitmap part. Is this somehow convertible to 3d? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted March 8, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted March 8, 2010 The only way I can think of to have the bitmap part display would be to: Convert the original pdf file to a PNG or JPEG Import the image file as a texture. Draw a rectangle the desired size & proportion of the image Create a floor (from the rectangle) of 0 thickness and set the desired Z height. Apply the texture and map it as needed.
