Chris Rogers
It seems like this should be easy, but how do I divide a line into equal parts? (other than 2) Thanks. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
One way is to use the Object Info Palette. You can do math in there. Select the line then in the length field in the OIP, put your cursor after the number and type /6 and you will have exactly 1/6 the length, etc. etc. Quote Link to comment
Chris Rogers
I'm surprised there is not a tool that leaves the original line intact and distributes objects or loci evenly along a line Quote Link to comment
Chris Rogers
But I'll try your suggestion. Thanks Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
You will find it as a menu command under Modify>Drafting Aids>Line into Segments in the Designer series. Its been there for many versions..... The Arc variations are a little newer. Kevin Quote Link to comment
billtheia
You can also use SNAP TO DISTANCE. It allows you to snap to any fraction of line length. See attached pic. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Or "Duplicate Array" with 2d loci... Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
And . . . Duplicate Along a Path command (Edit Menu) leaves original object intact and distributes selected object per user controlled spacing or count. The fields can do math (eg Length shown divided by number of desired intervals) -B Quote Link to comment
nering
If you don't want extra lines, loci, etc., but would like to just snap to each 1/5, 1/3, 1/24, etc. portion of the line, i would recommend using constraints of the smart cursor. double click the "snap to distance" button and specify which fraction or distance you want to snap to. This one's especially good if you work with a module. Quote Link to comment
