michaelk
What is the secret call to get a worksheet cell or database header to return the x and/or y and/or z coordinate of a symbol's insertion point? Thanks! michaelk Quote Link to comment
James Russell
XCenter(criteria) The center of objects in the X direction =XCenter (n='board') YCenter(criteria) The center of objects in the Y direction =YCenter (n='board') ZCenter(criteria) The center of objects in the Z direction =ZCenter(n='board') Hope that helps, I've been using http://download2.nemetschek.net/www_misc/2009/getting_started/landmark/VWHelp/Vectorworks%20Fundamentals/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm#context=Vectorworks_Fundamentals&file=18_WorksheetDatabase.19.8.html for that kind of stuff. michaelk
Thanks, James. I was hoping to find the insertion point of a symbol, rather than the center. I hadn't though to look in the KB. (I was slogging through help) I'll give that a shot. michaelk Quote Link to comment
Yancka
I'm out of luck trying to get ZCENTER work with symbols. It works with other kinds of objects (i.e. walls, extrudes). With symbols I get only XCENTER and YCENTER. Any idea of what's going on? Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
It definitely appears broken. It is the same in VW2010 SP2. I suggest you file a bug report. The work around (only if you REALLY need it), it to put a custom record on your symbols and then run a Vectorscript that will take the Zcenter and store it in your custom record and then report that. The downside is that you have to remember to run the script to update the record information after you make changes or you will return inaccurate information. Quote Link to comment
