Hatches and Polygons

I'm trying to add a hatch to a polygon (with curves and straights) imported from AutoCAD. Why doesn't the usual >Modify >Hatch route work? Does anyone know? Thanks in advance...

Copy and paste the object into a new file and post it here.

This is an extrude, a hatch can't be applied to a 3D object. Do you need this to be a 3D object?

If not, double click on the extrude to edit the extrude. Once you enter edit extrude you will have the polyline the extrude was made from. Copy it, exit edit, and paste it. You can apply a hatch to the polyline.
