BiztroBill
Hi, all. Maybe this is a configuration problem, but when I add notes to a sheet layer viewport, the keynote legend appears outside the "edit annotation" window instead of right there where I'm working. I can't even see the notes until I exit the viewport annotation. Is this supposed to work that way or is it possible for the legend to be inserted inside the annotation window? Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
that's the way it is designed to work. you are not doing anything wrong Quote Link to comment
BiztroBill
Hey, Jonathan. Thanks for your response. But I wonder what the logic might be to place the keynote legend outside the window, where I can't see it. Quote Link to comment
Jeffrey W Ouellette
Bill, The logic is that the Keynote Legend belongs to a layer, either Design Layer or Sheet Layer, so a user can subscribe Callouts/keynotes to it from another layer or viewport, simultaneously. If it were embedded in a VP Annotation Space, it would add a unnecessary level of container complexity to allow the subscription functionality. Also, keeping the Keynote legend outside the SLVP allows users to delete/edit VPs without affecting the Keynote Legend and its connection to other Callouts/keynotes on other Sheet Layers or Design Layers. To see the Keynote Legend while in the VP Annotation Space, you just need to have the "Show other objects while in editing modes" option turned on in the Vectorworks preferences. BiztroBill
Jeffrey, that helps. Thanks. I can now see the legend when I'm in the annotation view. Is there a way to change the default fonts in the keynote legend so I don't have to change them to my standard font after placing the legend? Quote Link to comment
Jeffrey W Ouellette
I believe, at creation, that they follow the current default font set in the Text menu, at the top of the screen. Set that to what you want your default to be and everything else should be driven by that setting. Quote Link to comment
BiztroBill
Actually, the callouts do conform to the default font as you say, but the legend always comes out 12pt Arial, no matter how the menu is set. Quote Link to comment
brudgers
At least in 2008 the legend does not use the current text styles. It defaults to arial for the title and body. I have not seen a listing for it as a PIO so that font parameters could be changed. Edited December 16, 2009 by brudgers Quote Link to comment
BiztroBill
What's a PIO? Quote Link to comment

Kool Aid
Indeed. Gramophone, see phonograph. Phonograph, see gramophone. People, who don't know what they are talking about, should not offer to answer. Could Mother Brudgers provide some useful information? Quote Link to comment
Jonathan Pickup
you can use the eyedropper to pick up the attributes of one formated keynote legend and apply the Title Formatting and Body Formatting. If you set the preferences on the eyedropper correctly, it will set the default Title and Body formatting. On my computer, it has trouble with the width of the body, but otherwise it does set the title and body formatting. this only works in one file. but if you do this in your template file, then every project will have the formatting you want. BiztroBill
A little quirky maybe, but that works! (Do a little dance). Quote Link to comment
Jeffrey W Ouellette
If the Keynote Legend font control does not conform to general text object usage found in other VW objects/commands, then I would submit a bug. Quote Link to comment
