Objet Info Palette

bcd

Question

Surely it's time for an upgrade to this the most useful palette of all.

I'd like to see the the facility of expanding all the tabs at one time, or displaying all field groups and have them fly out on mouse-over.

Now that we all have much more screen space than in 1985 the economy of the OIP tabs is less important showing Data and Render information would encourage their use as well as providing a one look feedback on the information on hand.

thoughts?

This could be useful:

1. Object name should be show in shape.

2. Attributes should be in the obj info.

3. More friendly approach in the data section. An easier navigation.

4. Hide and show (objects) at object level.

5. Graphical previews: imagine a door object that show an isometric icon (like symbols) when you are in top plan.

And the list goes on . . . . .

There are so many aspects that need addressing in the OIP.

Raymond Mullin has managed to solve many of the missing obligatory options with "Reshaper" but there are still options that even Ray has difficulty dealing with.

Free plug Ray . . . are you getting this Mr. M?

I'd like to see the basic information of Object name and its Layer and Class visible on all tabs and for Viewport names to be visible and editable on the Shape tab.

Most of all though I would like to see a more graphic interface so you can see an image of the parameter you are modifying rather than have to remember what it is. A simple example is the North Point with its 9 configurations. Currently to see what each one of these is you have to laboriously go through each choice one by one on the drawing and try to remember them. How much better would it be if you could see what the choices were in a pop-up.
