Using a surface to modify a solid

I have created a nurbs surface via a loft and I am trying to use this surface to edit a solid addition. I basically want to carve away the solid to the surface leaving a block with the surface geometry - this would be done on a CNC mill.

Section Solids is the command you are looking for.

But it did not work with the two objects in your demo file.

Perhaps if you used the loft instead of converting it to a solid you would get better results.
