Heppy
Hi. I have been using VW for a few years now but I am at the point where I am wanting to model more complex shapes. I have played around with 3d power pack contours, nurbs etc.. but I havent found a formula for creating shapes such as this: http://www.dubaichronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/zaha-hadid-for-omniyat-1.jpg Using this building as an example could someone loosely describe how I would model a shape similar to the towers? Thanks for your help :] Quote Link to comment
bcd
One way: Draw cross-section using Polyline tool - Make sure it is closed. Convert to Nurbs Move 3d to correct elevation Repeat for the full height. Select all Loft with no rail Quote Link to comment

mmyoung
Hi Heppy, Here's a rough primer on the shapes you mentioned. It's not that difficult, but it take a little time, same as any other NURBS modeler. Follow the sequence of Saved Views to see what was done. Take a look a Silo and modo (or 3DMax, if it's affordable) to investigate what you can do with forms like this in subD. Edited December 5, 2009 by mmyoung Quote Link to comment
