Interview questions for potential employees about Vectorworks?

Recommended Posts

I would think the best test is to give them something to draw or revise. This way you can immediately tell if they're clunky or adept.

I would want to know if they know their way around VectorScript, worksheets, the awful referencing system, and what experience they have working on large projects shared between many drafters (skill set aside, this is a great way to borrow any good ideas).

Any ideas on some good questions to ask?

What software have you used?

What do you like about it?

What don't you like about it?

Unless Vectorworks knowledge is a critical part of the job's advertizement, it should not be turned into a critical part of the interview.

Regardless of what software they've used in the past, the important thing is for them to learn and follow your firm's best practices.

An autocad user who understands that will probably be a far better candidate than a Vectorworks user who won't change.
