Andrew Davies
Hello all - Was wondering if I could get some advice - I am not the most creative of people! I have designed a set - which like all my sets is functional and relatively simple to build and tour. I would like to give my client a 3d render / visual of it - so they get a good idea of what they are getting. However, I don't want to spend hours modelling and rendering the venue (it changes anyway) but when I have the set without a room - it looks like it is floating in space and you can't see the scale perspective. What I would like (I think) - is to create a generic white room with a sketch style - so that the background obviously isn't trying to pretend to be a real room. So - question is - do you think making a black and white sketchy, stylised room is a good idea? If not do you have any others and - if that is a good idea, is it possible to apply a sketch rendering style to the background, but keep the actual set as fast RW? Any help much appreciated! Ray Libby
Sounds like a good idea. Create a layer for the room and model it there. On your sheet layer, duplicate the viewport of your set. Move the new viewport to the back and have only the room visible through layer visibility. You can then have two different rendering types. Quote Link to comment
Andrew Davies
Of course! Great idea. Never thought of that. Thanks Ray Andrew Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
Have you thought about taking a photo of a potential space it might tour to and using Camera Match ( ) to combine your model with the photo of the venue? Its been on my list to try for a while... KM Quote Link to comment
HP Sauce
Camera Match is excellent. Can't fault it, and the developer is incredibly responsive. I hate to state the obvious but a modelled environment can't compete with a superimposed model over photo. It's quite cheaply priced considering the time you'll save. Quote Link to comment
Andrew Davies
Ray - that tip really helped - thank you. Am really chuffed with the visual I have just produced. (just hope the bleeding client likes it now!) Camera Match looks good too - hadn't heard of that. Will download it and give it a try. Thanks again, Andrew Quote Link to comment
Andrew Davies
Update - am getting some odd behaviour with a solid substraction - but only when I add a light. Can't quite figure it out. For some reason it goes transparent. You've helped me enough though! Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Thank you for letting me learn what chuffed means... Quote Link to comment

Andrew Davies
Has anyone tried Camera Match on VW2010? It doesn't say if it supports it or not. Andrew Quote Link to comment
Andrew Davies
Update - Camera Match is now compatible with VW 2010 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted October 20, 2009 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 20, 2009 Hello Andrew et al, Yes. CameraMatch 2010 has just been released! It was a slightly premature since it requires VW 2010 SP1. VW 2010 SP1 was just released today. If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions (or wisecracks), let me know. -Matt Quote Link to comment
