Bruce Kieffer
I know this installation is not recommended, but does VW 2009 work on a G4? Quote Link to comment
MullinRJ
This KBase article doesn't recommend it, but it doesn't say NO, either. You might give it a try. Vectorworks 2009 System Recommendations Raymond Quote Link to comment
ccroft
It does launch on my G4 laptop running 10.4.11. It seems to run *OK* but I only use the laptop in the field for viewing files and a little 2d drafting, and not very often. No freezes that I can remember, but I'm hardly using the program at all on this machine. Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
Thanks for the info. I have VW 2010 arriving tomorrow. Will install that on my iMac. Seriously considering selling my PowerBook G4. I have very little space left on the HD for a VW 2009 install, so I may hold off a bit. Quote Link to comment
sono ton
is there still a trail version of 2009? i don't have a intel mac jet and i need to test vectorworks if it's fits my needs in show lighting thx Quote Link to comment
D Wood
Bruce You might consider keeping your PB G4 for archives. OS10.4 could also run OS9, so if you have files going back that far (and it's not that long in any other terms than computing!), the PB may be useful if you still have access to OS10.4. It's a bit ironic - I remember when computers first came on the scene and we were told that we could keep digitised records forever, we wouldn't need that mountain of paper in stacks of plan drawers, now of course I can still read those old drawings, but not the electronic files - there are no readers for floppy disks, and the OS they're written in is obsolete anyway. Sono An Intel Mac jet - now there's a thought. Mine's fast, but not that fast .................. Quote Link to comment
JeffPPI
sono, it fits your needs for show lighting. it begs the question, maybe for the Mythbusters: does a PB G4 on an airplane (i.e., Jet) process faster than one of it's counterparts on the ground? what if you duct tape a rocket to your powerbook?
