Malte Koeditz
Hi, I have imported a dwg site plan into Vectorworks. It is made of individual lines, and I am trying to convert the whole thing into polygons for later - individual - extrusion. (Just the building outlines) I have attached a screenshot of the plan incase I am not making any sense. I hope there is an easier way to do it rather than manually draw over with the polygon tool. The section in the screenshot is a tiny part, so it would take ages to do it manually. Thanks, Malte Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
If the lines touch, use the Paint Bucket setting of the 2D Polygon Tool. KM Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Or, first use the JOIN command to ensure that the endpoints of each line are exactly coincident with each other then select all lines and use the COMPOSE command. Quote Link to comment
Malte Koeditz
The paint bucket setting works quite well since the lines are all joining. Sadly the compose doesn't - would have been nice, but instead of creating polygons it creates a number of open polylines. Never mind. Thanks for the advice. Always appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
Any segments that do not join mean that the end points of those lines are not EXACTLY coincident. You can either manually adjust them to be coincident or use the Join command. After that you should be able to Compose. But if the paint bucket mode works for you that is even easier.
