jimmymise
I exported an object from 3dmax as a dxf file. I then imported it into VW12. The object is actually 3334 3d polygons. How can I simplify this into one generic solid. As is, it seems to slow things down a lot. I've tried everything. Well, obviously not everything or I wouldn't be posting. Thanks. Kevin McAllister
You could try: Modify>Convert>Convert to Nurbs Then Model>3D Powerpack>Stitch and Trim Surfaces If the objects form a closed shape they will become a generic solid. I am not sure if Stitch and Trim exists in Vectorworks 12. Kevin Quote Link to comment
starling75
Yes,convert to NURBS surfaces and stitch and trim works, but firstly you must imported polygon cluster convert into a group of 3D polygons or into a mesh (which is in fact groupe of 3D polygons..) and then proceed with commands above. When the number of stitching NURBS surfaces overpass cca 900 the procedure will probably fail (larger load of surfaces is necessary convert to solids in more partial steps) see this thread: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=127319#Post127319 or this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uig2i-QypmY Quote Link to comment

starling75
Just found this thread .. and your problem has much more simple solution ... http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=129911#Post129911 Just select your 3D polygons and press Ctrl + Alt + A (add solids) and thats it .. Edited September 28, 2009 by starling75 Quote Link to comment
