Dimension class

Recommended Posts

Does the dimension class has any "advantages" apart from assigning any created dimensions to it or is a just a normal class like any other?

Regards

Uli

Hi Uli,

The Dimension Class really has no advantages over any other class. It is one that is automatically created along with the "None" class.

Dimensions will automatically be placed there but you CAN move them to a class of your choosing.

Hope this helps

Wes

FWIW, it used to be (version 9?) that if either of those two classes (none, dimension) were deleted it would wreak havoc with the file. Not sure what happens in the current version as I have been afraid/superstitious ever since... P

do NOT delete, or rename the None and Dimension classes.

In later versions, you can not delete these, bit do not rename them, it will cause trouble

I have used ADDITIONAL Dimension Classes such as Framing Dimensions Dimension for Plumbing Rough-In, Dimension for Electrical Rough-In, etc.. I?ve also done phasing dimensions. Depending on the complexity of a project, this method can be beneficial to clearly show a specific trade which dimensions pertain to him/her. Once again, for me it?s all about making it as clear as possible for the contractor to build it (hopefully the FIRST time)
