Vw 2009 printing on HP desginjet 500

BeKo

Question

We have problems with printing jobs generated in VW 2009 to be printed on HP designjet 500. We're using VW 12.5 also, and never had these problems. Also files that are converted from 12.5 to 2009 that printed in the older version don't print in the new. If we downconvert files from 2009 to 12.5 it works. It seems to be related to file-size, since pure line-drawings don't make problems, but as soon as hatches, bitmaps (imported), images or the like are used there is no reaction on the printer. Printing as bitmap or similar routines to overcome memory limitations does not help.

Env: Win XP SP 3, Pentium D 3 GHz, 2GB RAM, Plotter HP DJ 500, latest driver and firmware, 160 MB RAM.

Does anyone know this issue and perhaps a solution?

As I recall... the HP500 Driver supports both Vector & Raster Page Imaging.

Depending on the RAM installed, DPI, page-size, and whether or not you are using any colors.

There's also an option for printing from memory or spool file.

When a print job stalls for some reason or other... our first instinct is to "try again... and again ... " .

The result can be print queue stacking in the printer spool directory.

Then the only option is to clean out the print spool directory prior to printing.

The HP500 is a very powerful plotter with many options ... the configuration can be tricky.

Start with Black&White , vector, from RAM ... then try spool and finally Raster Image.

Configurations are best set from within the HP Driver itself.
