Andrew Mac
How do I add my specific color I want for my tectured 6 inch siding. Do I take an existing tecture siding and then try to edit it with a new color. I don't see the color I like in the current tectures for siding in my palette. bcd
Hi Mac B, Have you tried to edit the texture colour to filtered image - then set the filter colour to achieve the look you'd like? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Mac B, I have been creating my own textures for this (and other similar) needs. It's really pretty simple: just create a small section of the desired siding (including color) in 3d. Render and fiddle with sun angle and shadows, then export a "chunk" of it out in JPEG (or some other graphic) format. Then use the exported JPEG image as the basis for a new RenderWorks Texture. I have also had really good success using an actual photo of a building's siding. If you try this be very careful to a) take a large enough area so that you can crop out the center, and b) try to keep the camera truly perpendicular to the wall (or whatever) you are shooting. I have also asked (wished) for years that there was an easy way to simply change the color of textures by choosing a color, instead of needing to mess with all of the mysterious fields in the edit texture dialog... Chad McNeely
Using either bcd or Peter's methods, it's best to start with a white siding texture and then use the filtered image setting. With white as a background, the filter color will be very close to the final color. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Yes, that is good advice! Thanks Chad. Quote Link to comment
