Textures on 3D Objects

Recommended Posts

I may depend on what version of VW you are using.

In 2009 you can assign different textures to the top, sides, and bottom of an extrude in the Render Tab of the OIP. (I don't remember if that is the case for 2008)

I usually find it more useful to use the Extract tool to extract a surface from the extrude, apply a texture to that, and then bump the extrude just a little bit away from the extrude, or put the the extrude in a class that can be turned off. (If the extracted surface and the extrude occupy exactly the same space you get weird artifacts in the rendering.)

Just a clarification and a note.

In 2009, it is sides i.e. all of the sides take on the same texture.

If you don't need need to be able to edit it again, you could Convert to 3D Polys and you will get all of the sides. Or duplicate it first as a shortcut to doing all the sides per Michael's idea above.
