Projector and TV screens should emit light.

After talking with tech support and others, there appears to be no easy way of making projection screens look like projection screens and not paintings hanging on the wall.

I came from an AutoCad based system that allowed me to simply set an emission value for a screen or TV, and the unit would look realistic on render.

Right now the only option appears to be hours of rigging up a light and trimming it's pattern to fit perfectly on the screen. What a shame...

Ken -

The quickest way that I know of to simulate the glow/emission is to create a 3D polygon the size of the screen, map an image to it, and turn the shape into an area light. Untoggle "Render Geometry." Not automated and the results are time-consuming to render, but should take seconds instead of hours and the look will be close to what you're wanting.
