Smart Points

I'm using VW2008 and in the Smart Points I get neither the dotted lines nor the Align boxes. The Point boxes do not appear either. In the dialog box I have only the Horizontal/Vertical Extensions checked, but I get the same results no matter what I have turned on or off in the dialog box.

How can I change this so that it works the way it is supposed to?

hit the "y" key. the y key is a shortcut to the screen hints

I just tried that...."hit the Y key"

What is suppose to happen? Does something have to be selected(active) or do you have to go set this up somewhere to have screen hints.

Y is the correct key as illustrated by David.....

Do you have SmartCursor Cues enabled (under SmartCursor Settings/General accessed via double-clicking any of the buttons in the Constraints palette)? I believe this is the default function for Y.

The Y key just toggles the "words" showing when you are at snap points on and off. If you don't have the snaps turned on in the constraints palette, then Y does nothing.

If you do have the constraints on, then Y toggles between showing the type of snap you are on and showing nothing.

Do you have the Snap to Object and Smart Points turned on in the Constraints palette?
