Truss tape

Recommended Posts

Someone told me that if you have a register tape printer that spotlight will print truss tapes for you?

I can not find this in the vectorworks help.

Using Spotlight 2009.

Anybody know how to do this.

It would save alot of time on my garage floor.

thanks tim

hello tim;

i don't know about printing tapes direct out of vw. i usually export data from Lightwright into word and then print onto avery labels. then i can control font size and style as needed, BIG when needed. then paste that onto register tape for one-offs, drywall tape for tours.

hi jim;

do you have to be careful to not stretch the plastic tape? over repeated usings (like a tour) i'd be a little nervous that stretching might shift an entire section of an electric farther offstage. any tricks to prevent that? do you hang the plastic from the batten when you're using it? or just lay it on the floor?

I've also tried to make Hang tapes through VW. I've managed to shrink my symbols to a manageable size by creating a duplicate similiarly named symbol (RT ETC S4 26) for Register tape, and edit the symbol. In editing the symbol I convert the old objects to a group and then scale the object by .125. The scale only need be large enough to fit on whatever width tape you will print. Then I exit the edit symbol and replace the original 26 deg with the new RT 26 deg. This shrinks the symbol down to size and keeps the coordinates in place in a 1:1 drawing. My only issue is with the label legend. The containers do not scale and nor does the text. Any thoughts?
