Anyone using VW for US government work?

Recommended Posts

Have been preparing to submit proposals for government work and would like to know how we're (VW that is) doing meeting conversion and submission requirements for government agency work?

By conversion you mean VWX -> PDF.

I submitted and won award for a decontamination unit with the VA and have a proposal (along with 7,400 other companies) for a forward fighting position sentry post with the DOD. Both subbmitted in PDF format per BAA specification. VW performed seamlessly.

We're working as Project Managers on a Homeland Security-FEMA-911 Headquarters.

VW is perfect for the job. All the other A&E folks who use Acad are jealous !

Sounds great, what about those agencies that require the use of AutoCad, any problem with AutoCad proficiency demonstrations (as some RFQ's specifically state) or have you found the DXF/DWG translations to be sufficient? You might not be able to address this directly but I would appreciate any anecdotal material along these lines. Thanks.

Be careful in translating fills to DWG. I don't.

Translate classes as layers since they carry a better description of the data.

Translate design layers and individual DWG's.

Again, no direct experience but most of our clients--local gov't and universities--require ACad drawings in addition to various other hard copies and files for as-builts.

Someone in the office spends a couple of days cleaning, converting and checking files. Haven't had any complaints yet. From the clients that is, the person doing the slog is occasionally vocal.
