3D Dimensioning

Tom Klaber

Question

This feature - made known to me through Sketch Up - is incredibly useful. We are seeing a move away from classic architectural drawings to more explanatory isos when if comes to parts of CD sets and shop drawings. Being able to dimension and notate in 3D and have those dimensions and notations follow the model as you rotate it would be extremely helpful.

Party line used to be that all dims belong in VP annotation. Now many users are recommending that we place dims which may change in the design layers. If properly associated, they will adjust automatically as the design changes. Class them and use saved views to show/hide the dims. Put static dims in the VP annotations.

I still getting the hang of this. Old dogs, and all that.
