digitalcarbon
again, the stair tool is a good place holder and has some detail ability. in the beginning of this project the stair tool was used. when we needed to really have accurate stairs, then we deleted the stair object and modeled everything in 3d. jeffery, please note that a "piping" tool (see wish list) would work good here in being able to extract the length of the rail & cable system. also, the steel used could take advantage of the "element object" idea. (see wish list) we should be able to get the lengths of the steel used no matter how many holes or cuts are made in it. Quote Link to comment

Chad McNeely
What smoothing angle do you have set in you "Line render options"? Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
it is a view port set to hidden line render. Quote Link to comment
ionw
The same smoothing angle options exist for the viewport. Just under where you chose the hidden line rendering, is a button to set the line rendering options for the viewport. HTH, Ion Edited March 23, 2009 by ionw Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
wow!! thanks. those lines have been dogging me for months! this is great! : ) Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
although it removes my cable system which is just 3d lines. i really do not want to model 1/8" cables the 10˚ setting seem to be the threshold for removing all of my fillets. anything less and i cannot get rid of some. Chad McNeely
You can use "tapered extrude" on your 3d lines, set the taper to 0 and the height to 1/8" or less. It's not quite "modelling" the cables, but it gets closer and is very quick and easy. Quote Link to comment
RubenH
Are you using Nurbs? I don't have that problem; Nurbs Curves (1 Degree). Can't be grouped! Edited March 24, 2009 by Mr. Gog Quote Link to comment

RubenH
It can be. But don't group them! Edited March 26, 2009 by Mr. Gog Quote Link to comment
