Roger Webster
Sorry to be so basic, but how and where do I add a scale bar - on a viewport, or on a design layer? My attempts so far simply result in one vertical line, labelled "0m" (zero metres). I've tried the User's Guide and Help to no avail. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
It would really help to know your version of Vectorworks. I just did a search on "scale bar" in VW2009 online help and found instructions. Quote Link to comment
Roger Webster
I'm using VW 2009. I just searched for "scale bar" on online help and got "no results found". I have the Design Series User's Guide open at p 357 but it doesn't gey me anywhere. Quote Link to comment
Pat Stanford
By default, when you put in a scale bar, the units are set very small. If you look at the settings in the Object Info Palette after you enter it, you will see something like a minor length of 6mm and a major length of 25mm (I am using Feet/Inches and it is 1/4" / 1") If you have a 1:50 scale, these need to be much bigger. For my 1:48 scale drawing, I typically use 6" as the minor length and 1' as the major length. Quote Link to comment
Roger Webster
Eureka! Thank you Pat - my drawing units are millimetres by default and the drawing is at 1:200, so by adding two zeros I now have a bar length big enough to see. Great. Quote Link to comment
panta rhei
After you've configured the scale bar, you might make a ?red? symbol of it and incorporate that in your default template. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Note that scale bars automatically scale to the layer or viewport. For viewports on sheet layers, place scale bars in the VP annotations. All sheet layers have imutable 1:1 scale, so placing a scale bar on a sheet layer will infer that all objects in all VPs on that sheet have 1:1 scale. -B Quote Link to comment
