Woodhead
I'm a new Vectorworks user, so bear with me. I use Vector to create sound and lighting plots and I need to be able to create a library of products from the various loudspeaker and lighting manufacturers that I deal with. Unfortunately most of them use Autocad R14 or 2000 and I'm tearing my hair out trying to import 3D files into Vectorworks. Does anyone have any insight into this? Quote Link to comment
vulcan
Maybe your way ahead of me but, under file...go to, Import...then DXF,DWG. I've only worked with 2D files, but, I've imported them successfully from Autocad14(weak! and I guess...VW9 is supposed to work with Autocad2000i. Good Luck. Quote Link to comment
Speedy Gonzales
VectorWorks 9 does import both AutoCAD 14 and 2000i very well for 2D files, although I have not tried 3D imports. I have been working with other consultants using these types of files and it has worked flawlessly. What I have had problems with is importing DWG files into 8.5.2 then converting them into VWA 9 for use there (I am still using both versions). Those brought into VWA 9 somehow become corrupted and prevent printing of that sheet. Removal of those offending elements solves the problem. (I haven't had time (due to deadlines) with importing DWGs directly into VWA9. Quote Link to comment
DuaneS
I am a Acad2000 guy who just moved to 8.5.2. We seem to import 3d from acad r14 just fine using the dxf/dwg import format. We accept all the defaults as it goes and so far so good. gds Quote Link to comment
