Go to About Vectorworks and click the License button. That will let you see the license agreement that governs your use of VW.

If you have a B series license you can install on as many machines as you wish, but it will only operate on the one that has the dongle.

If you have an E series license, you can install it on two machines as long as you only run it on one at a time.

I don't have a copy of the A series license here, so you will need to look for yourself.

I have the Series A license:

________________________________________________________________________

1.3 License Agreement (Series A)

The Buyer May:

(a) Install and operate this software on one computer at a time.

The Buyer May Not:

(e) Operate the software on more than one computer at a time.

________________________________________________________________________

I guess this means that the software can only be operated by the buyer on one computer at a time. Although, it does not state that the buyer "may not" install the software on more than one computer. It looks like a small loophole, which puts it more in line with the E series license.

It looks like the Service Pack 2 for Vectorworks 2009 closed the loophole:

___________________________________________________________________________

1.3 License Agreement (Series A)

If this copy of Vectorworks is issued with a serial number that does not begin with the character "B," "C" or "E," you may install and operate the software on one (but not more than one) computer at a time, for use by a single user of that computer.

The license now clearly states that the software may not be installed on more than one computer. I'm glad they cleared that up!
