liberian
On a simple 2D drawing I have flipped some of the dimensions so that they would not colide with the lines they were dimensioning. It looks fine on the design layer, but when I make a viewport the dimensions are back the original way - not flipped. Any idea why this is happening? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Have you rotated the viewport? Did you try unflipping it in the design layer? Quote Link to comment
liberian
Unflipping it in the design layer made no difference, but rotating the viewport does flip some of the dimensions the other way - so it corrects some but incorrects the others - depending which way I rotate it .... Why is this happening? And what should I do to have the dimensions the way I want - some flipped and some not? Thank you for help Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Could you post a file demonstrating this? Quote Link to comment
liberian
Here it is. Thanks for your help! Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
I see, it looks like there is nothing you can do. If you select the viewport, click on Advanced Properties... unchecking Adjust Flipped Text should do as you want. I filed a bug. Personally, I wouldn't want dimension text to read anything other than all the same orientation. Quote Link to comment
liberian
Ray - thank you!! Quote Link to comment
liberian
Ray, unchecking Adjust Flipped Text made no difference If the dimension text should read all the same orientation - how do I do that? It is automatically positioned along the line .... how can I make it horizontal when the line is vertical? I only found the "flip" option ... Quote Link to comment
CAD_Boy
I have the answer, at least I believe I do. In the design layer select any dimension and right click, go to properties. From here uncheck auto position text. This resolve you problem. On a side note the Adjust Flipped Text did actually change the text, at least in the viewport it changed the text going vertical. liberian
I don't know why but Adjust Flipped Text makes no difference to my viewport. I tried unchecking the Auto Position Text in the design layer and it sent the text to the top of the dimension line. BUT in the process I realized that there is the option to have the text horizontal, which answers the other question I had - what to do to have all the dimension text all the same orientation as Ray suggested. That makes the text to intersect the dimension line though .... Quote Link to comment
CAD_Boy
You can move the dimension out a little more and that should fix that issue I believe. Quote Link to comment
CAD_Boy
I f my last last comment doesn't help please upload the file again with one of the dimensions your having trouble with as a different color red would be preferred. Quote Link to comment
liberian
I did offset the line so that the text does not colide with the drawing line .... Apart of the non-flipped text in the viewport, I think I can do what I need now. The local standard is a combination of vertical and horizontal text, i.e. text aligned with the dimension line. I will try to stick to that and not flip the text ... Many thanks!! Quote Link to comment
