0 Pat Stanford
Where are you printing from? If you are printing sheet layers, you need to make sure the Sheet Layer DPI (set in the orgianization palette) is also set to 300 DPI as well as the setting in Document Preferences. 0 islandmon
Keep in mind ... also... that each printer / plotter has a maximum print resolution. Experience has proven 300dpi to be a normally satisfactory compromise between filesize, print time, and output quality. Quote Link to comment
0 Stan Rostas
150 dpi on most printers and with most eyeballs is not any difference than 300 dpi. Random test were done at a local university to test this theory and 80% of the test subjects could not tell the difference. Quote Link to comment
0 mr. iagea
High-resolution 4-color process resolution is usually 300 dpi because the screen lpi is 150 (multiply x2 to get resolution). If you are printing high-res photo-quality process, then 300dpi is what you want. Usually 260dpi is sufficient for color printing on most "end-user" printers, even with those special glossy "photo papers". Anything higher than that and you're wasting ink and time. For black and white plots, 150 dpi is plenty. You will not see any noticeable difference with resolutions higher than that. If you are losing detail in your output, I would suggest checking your printer settings (on the actual printer), to assure that you are printing at the Highest Quality setting, rather than "Normal" or "Draft", if such settings are part of your printers firmware or software drivers.
