Is there any good books/manuals for vectoworks, to create new tools and to understand vector scripting? I know about the online help , it is useful, however I find it easier to read a book then a PDF.

There's almost nothing in print.

Older versions had a printed Language Guide. Maybe you know somebody who has one.

I might consider printing the pdf, but at best it's a guide.

I found an old text on Pascal that helped me with some of it. They're similar. It's Programming in Pascal by Nell Dale. Of course there's no mention of any of the 'built-in' Vectorscript functions, but it might help with understanding Procedures, Functions, Variables, Scope, Data Types and other constructs which the two share. It helped me...somewhat.

It won't help much with understanding things specific to Vectorworks such as parametric objects, working with objects in a drawing, or criteria specific to our program.

As I've said before, there's no substitute for bone-headed determination and experimentation. An obsessive personality is powerful engine in this pursuit.

Keep trying.

Thank-You, The definitions of the function are helpful, What I find the best help is when I have examples to explain and show how the functions work. There are helpful examples in the help document, but not enough. I will continue to push on, and experiment with new functions.

John,

Have you looked at the Vectorscript Language Guide in the help files?

This explains grammar, syntax, data types, loops etc, in short how to use the functions.

John, open a new document and draw some objects in it.

Then Export as VectorScript. Next open this document in a text editor.

From this reading you may learn some too.
