Iggy Rosenberg
I've never had this problem before, but I just switched to 2008 and for some reason my layers disappear after I render another layer. For example I'll render some drapes, and they'll show up. I'll render some trussing and the drapes will disappear. The same happens with every layer I have. It's a very simple model so I'm confused as to why this would happen. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
This could be a class option problem with 2008 are you rendering in Deisgn Layers or sheet layers and which render option does it, only one or all(OpenGL, Final, etc) Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Iggy Try creating a View Port and placing it on a sheet layer. In 2008, rendering (in most, if not all modes) on a design layer blocks views of the layers under it. Not sure if the same is true in 09 yet. HTH Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
This is only when so selected as to the type of view, Active only, Grey scaled etc. selected in Layer Options. Seems like Iggy has a slight different situation here though. Quote Link to comment
Iggy Rosenberg
I'm actually running '08. Going to '09 right now poses a problem because most people I work with barely use '08, so 2 versions ahead would be a nightmare! I'm really perplexed, I'll try the viewport thing, I thought about it before but just didn't get to it. Things should render even without a texture on it right? Quote Link to comment
Iggy Rosenberg
BTW the viewport thing worked. It still looks funny, like my models have no edges, but at least they're all there. Quote Link to comment
Iggy Rosenberg
Ah, it seems I have some objects I can't apply any color or textures to. I select a fill color and it snaps back to None. Any ideas why? As far as I can see its just a simple 3D object... Quote Link to comment

That means that when you render a design layer, it hides anything on layers lower in the stacking order. To get around this you need to use Stack Layers mode or create a Design Layer Viewport ( ne. Layer Link) so that the entire model "exists" on a single layer and can all be rendered at the same time. You could also put the model in a Viewport on a sheet layer to accomplish this as well.
