3d locus when deleting a symbol

Anyone ever has noticed that when deleting a (used) symbol from the library there is a 3d locus placed there where once this symbol used to be in the drawing?

We work with VW version 12,5,3 on a mac.

Is there a reason for this? Or is this a bug?

I've always assumed it was an indicator to the user that they had deleted a resource that was in active use in the drawing.

I always imagine the instance that you wanted to delete symbol A and accidentally delete symbol AA. At least with the locus point you know something was supposed to be there.

It also shows the insertion point of the deleted symbol.

I saw this now, well tested it to see...

Seems it is there for use to indicate the position for a possible replacement of another symbol or the same one, just redrawn as the user mistakenly accepted delete of that symbol.

Thanks for the ideas/ input. What my point is here, is that the drawing becomes a hybride one: 2d/3d. One can ask himself : is that what i want?

Sorry, but I'm a bit in the dark here as to what are saying.

If a drawing becomes a hybride...what was it before and what does the two mean. Definition???

It's the symbol that becomes hybrid. It means it has both a 2D graphical representation that only appears in Top/Plan View and a 3D representation that appears in all other views.

Well we draw in 2d, like technical drawings. So when 3d locus is placed in this drawing it becomes a 3d drawing. The fact is that some people here at my office do not understand when a view is in isometric the drawing dissapears (a floorplan as a symbol, and in this symbol an other symbol is deleted from library, this symbol becomes a 3d symbol due to a 3d locus)

So does a symbol that only have 3d entities also have some name or is it just a 3d sybmbol. I work mainly in 3D, rearly draw in 2D as I whould make a 3D model of what ever I draw to render. (I do not have any, just 2D symbols.

Correct.

There are 2D symbols, 3D symbols, and 2D/3D hybrid symbols.

The lighting instrument symbols are hybrid. They have a 2d geometry and text in Top/Plan view, and they are 3D in any other view.
