John Meunier
We have 5 computers in the office, some times not all computers are being used. Is there a program/software that would allow the use of the CPU's in the computers that are not busy to another computer in the office in order to speed up rendering time in vectorworks? How could someone go about modifying a current office in order to squeeze ever drop of processing power out of existing machines with minimal change, or purchase of expensive hardware. cad@sggsa
Would combining CPU's even help to speed up a render? If possible. It sound possible (3 PC's doing the work of one) but does VW not have some limits to that? I know with RAM it does have a limit. Quote Link to comment
IanH
I believe that it was recently stated that Renderworks does not support the use of renderfarms but a search for the term is not returning anything in the last 6 months. You may be able to use an alternative render package but renderfarms in general only work on whole images. Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
Hi Ian I also remember that now about renderfarms.... Think Mr Dave Donley still said it Quote Link to comment
John Meunier
It would be a nice feature to have Vectorworks support render farms. It would enable the use of the extra power that is just sitting, not being used. Quote Link to comment
Thom
Heck, I would just like the program to multi-thread to make use of multiple cores. Quote Link to comment
John Meunier
Doesn't Vectorworks already do Multi-Threading? I have a mac pro dual quad core xeon at home and in final quality renderworks, you can see 8 horizontal strips rendering. Is this not multi-threading at work? Quote Link to comment
MullinRJ
Renderworks - YES Vectorworks - NO Quote Link to comment
