Jershaun
Yes indeed. I've been asking for Nemetschek in incorporate technology like this for a long time. TurboCAD also has a feature like this. The user should be able to create plug-in objects WITHOUT writing code. Are you Nemetschek guys paying attention? We need to move forward or at least keep up with technology. Others are leaving Vectorworks behind. Surely it's possible for Vectorworks to do this as well. Quote Link to comment
Ozzie
I agree ? I posted this link a couple of weeks back although I will never use AutoCAD http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=9246650 Really interesting stuff though And this http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=113313#Post113313 Gee and really ? what - replace some circles with a particular symbol and therefore you have to write a script For a user to be productive (Jonathon from Archoncad thought) that user must be able to do things quickly and intuitively NNA must respond to these sorts of challenges 2008 still has bugs that quite probably will never be fixed ? that is cool given we are moving forward but ? the improvements in 2009 whilst good are probably only 50% of what we experienced from 12 to 2009 Best NNA is doing something sensational going into 2010 ? I wonder?? Quote Link to comment
MattG
I work for a company where most people here and most of our clients are vectorworks users. With a handful of autocad users. I have been noticing over the past year or two more and more of the vectorworks users shifting to Sketch Up and I have to say I have been playing with it and it has some great features. I really hope NNA is taking notice. Probably the greatest thing is the ability to share content with users so easily. That has been one of the saving features now with vectorworks that it can import sketch up files, but you lose all textures and typically the files have large amounts of 3d polys that really slow down vectorworks. Just a rant, but it would be cool if vectorworks had a better forum for content sharing among users. That is beyond any comparisons between the programs. Quote Link to comment
RubenH
I think these two pages are good examples of content sharing: http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/ http://think.maxwellrender.com/ http://maxwellsky.maxwellrender.com/index.php I hope the swicth to parasolid open the posibilities of Vw for four points: 1. Better modeling 2. Better Objects, including walls, beams, columns, stairs... 3. Interactive programing, like those things in sketchup. 4. 3d Parametrics and 3d dimesioning, like those in solidworks.
