Mickey
Anyone ever seen a good rendered plexiglass podium (lecturn)? I'm not the best at creating textures and my stuff looks too solid. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
I haven't, but it sounds like a fun project. Find a texture that is close and play around with Edit Texture. You can tweak the Transparency and Reflectivity to get what you want. Post your file and I'll take a look. Quote Link to comment

mjm
@Gary SeputisHere's a quick version. 15 mins to draw and texture the podium from scratch. PODIUM-PLEXi.vwx 3 Quote Link to comment
mjm
my favorite thing about that silly render is the complete absence of shadow from the podium. Render mode is a slightly edited version of Redshift Interior Fast. And of course the vwx version of redshift does not do caustics, lol Quote Link to comment
Mickey
Zombie thread for the win! I'm replying here because apparently I was the thread starter 14 years ago. That's a nice very Tap Plastic plexi lectern. Man how many times have I lit those! @mjm What are the BeamViz objects you are using to create the light? Me likey. Quote Link to comment

Hey @Mickey, those BeamViz objects are a plugin from @JBenghiat. Very useful tool, similar in some function to the Focus Lighting Devices tool, but also vastly different. I use em both. However, the BeamViz lights work with Redshift & Spotlight fixtures do not. The little screen caps below are redshift fast renders, the wall of pars image swaps in a fog background to the redshift fast Render Style (no de-noising!). The SL render time of the fog shot @ 300 DPI & ¼" scale took 3m 10s after opening the file just now. 2 Quote Link to comment
