copying viewports from file to file

Two people are working on the same project so we made a copy of the file so the other person can work on the interiors.

Is it possible to for the person working on the interiors who is creating viewports on the sheet layers to copy the viewports back into the original files. Can one copy viewports to another file?

i would not recommend this method of dividing up the files between workers. there is a better way, using workgroup referencing.
