Doug L
Why are plant tag labels microsize? They are only 1/8" tall in the design layer and look like plant center dots! Sheet layer viewport is 1"=10'. I tried changing scales of the design layer but that had no affect. Or is the tag for information only and you have to manually type callout to the plants? mike m oz
Plant tag labels are created using the current default text size ( menu Text/Size ). Best to set this to what you want prior to creation. You can change the text sizes of existing plant tag labels by selecting multiple plants or plant groups and changing the text size via the Text menu. Viewports have a Scale Text option under Advanced Properties which will scale the plant tag labels. This will scale them but you wil have no control over them in the Viewport. Better to do it on the Design Layer and leave the Viewport Scale option to detail instances. Quote Link to comment
Doug L
Thanks Mike! They were 'only' set to only 18 point, relative to the design layer. 500 pt is much better (via the Set Size menu which gives a choice of Points, Page Millimeter, and Page Inches). However, it appears that these plant tags are not movable and can only be set to right, left, (starting on top of the middle of the symbol) or none. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
The tags work much better in VW 2009. You can change them from left to right on the drawing via the text handle on the tag. You can also rotate them with this handle to angle snap presets like 45? and 90?. If you want top and bottom as options you will need to Wish List this. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Eric Gilbey, PLA Posted October 11, 2008 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 11, 2008 Doug, good to see you posting on the forum...this will help when others can pitch in with their suggestions. Mike is right about the improvements to Plant Tags in 2009. It's like putting on a new suit when the other is just not fitting. Plant tags in 2009 have been improved by the following: 1) to include a marker (arrow head) at the point where it meets the plant; 2) movable leaders and shoulders (didn't have a movable shoulder before, and the only way to move the leader was to move the text (or plant); 3) you can now change the position of the marker to point to the place in the plant grouping you prefer; 4)quantity "bubbles" which can be used for quantities or both qty and code (if you need to do a coded plan); the area to the right of the bubble can have up to 3 lines of text, which is helpful if you need to place info like both scientific name and common name, and spacing, and sizes, etc. This may be helpful in the cases where municipalities may expect to see this on the plan as well as the plant list. I'll respond to the groundcover topic with another 2009 improvement that would help you with that. Just what you needed to hear, right? Quote Link to comment
Ozzie
That is all great and really appreciated BUT Have there been any improvments made to the Hardscape Tool from 2008 to 2009 Quote Link to comment
