Edit symbols problem

I have used Black 2D symbols for plants in a planting plan, basically these are just circles of different diameter linked to a plant record. I want to change the line thickness to each symbol and thus all plants represented by that symbol, so I have edited and changed this in Resource Browser Edit. But the change is not being registered although I understood that any such changes reflect both past and future uses of any symbol. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not understanding, where are you checking "Use Class Attribute"?

Ray, find it under Tools - Organisation - Classes Tab.

Ok, I have the Organization palette open and I see no Use Class Attributes check box. If I edit a class, still no check box. Are you referring to the Use at Creation check box?

Ray, I'm not the expert here I'm the questionee! But as far as I can work out, and what seems to have worked for me, is to set the Class attributes in Tools, Organisation. The when you go Edit Symbol you can tick Class attributes in the Object Info panel. This I suppose selects the default Class attibutes, which you can then individually overide - or not??

I'm just trying to figure out what's going on! Is this the way you want to set attributes? If not you can just edit the symbol and change the line weight.

BTW, it would help to know your version of Vectorworks and computer specs, the best way to do this is to create a signature at My Stuff link, My Profile.

Ray. I did try to change the line weight in Edit symbol but it didn't work. Maybe I had ticked Class Attributes inadvertently or something.

Good, it sounds like that was the problem. Now I just can't figure out how islandmon knew it...
