Create a layer link, unlock it, rotate it to the view you want, and move it to the place on the sheet where you want it. Repeat for the other views you want to show. It's probably a good idea to use the Saved Sheets feature to save this particular sheet so you can switch to it easily. Quote Link to comment

"Create a layer link, -Between what items? "unlock it" - How does one unlock a link without deleting the layer fromh the file?" CREATE LINK tool is easy to find, but unlocking/removing links has me baffled. The Manual (MiniCAD 7.03--R416) talks about unlocking objects but says nothing about layers. rcarch Posted August 10, 2001 Share Posted August 10, 2001 ronald - to create a layer link, you first go to your target layer where you want the data to appear, then > VIEW >Create Layer Link the next dialog box will ask you which layers you want to link into the target layer, and whether or not to project 2D info. after you select whichever layers you want, click ok, and those selected layers should appear in your target layer, at whatever scale you have it set at. to unlock the layer link, you simply select it, go to EDIT>Unlock, and the link will be unlocked and movable and/or rotateable. (that is about all you can do with it) to delete the link, you simply select it and hit the delete key. the info in the linked layer will have all its 3D characteristics, as well as 2D (if you selected the check box initially). hope this helps. good luck ------------------ rich carrroll carrollarchitects Quote Link to comment

Our old discussions were about floor-to-floor seams. People found better results with Convert Copy to Lines and taking the extra time to edit in 2D. I've gone so far as using a custom plug-in command to convert groups to more usable elevation drawings. I think this topic should be addressed as a shortcoming in the development of VW -- not as a feature to boast. This is not true in VW9. Layer links are exported to DXF/DWG as blocks (symbols). VW8 Mac has a utility here that will turn layerlinks into symbols for export. Quote Link to comment

I would assume to most of you it's a oiece of cake. It sounds like I might be wrong and often people go through variuous convultions in order to create an elevation. It would be GREAT if one could simply do a cut&paste from a rendered 3D model, hidden line drawing, into a 2-D elevation drawing, and then move these vies around as objects WITHOUT HAVING TO GO THROUGH MAJOR CONTORTIONS - or learning MiniPascal.
